FAQs
Questions, answered.
Everything employers usually ask us about occupational health, health surveillance and working with Absolute OH.
What is occupational health?
Occupational health is about the two-way relationship between work and health: making sure work doesn’t harm your people, and that people with health conditions are supported to work safely and productively. It covers health surveillance, sickness absence case management, fitness-for-work assessments, and health and wellbeing.
Is health surveillance a legal requirement?
Often, yes. It’s required where employees are exposed to certain hazards, including noise above 85 dB(A), hand-arm vibration at or above the action value, substances hazardous to health such as respiratory and skin sensitisers, and others. Our surveillance checker shows which apply to you.
Do you come to us?
Yes. Our assessments, testing and health checks happen on-site at your premises, so your people spend as little time away from work as possible.
How quickly do we get a case management report?
Our practitioners provide a comprehensive report within 24 hours of the assessment, setting out the employee’s fitness for their contractual duties or the alternative tasks they could do.
What does the portal cost?
Nothing. Our secure online portal is a free addition to our services. Use it to refer employees, send questionnaires, track case status and download reports.
Is employee information kept confidential?
Yes. Each employee’s documents are stored separately, questionnaires go directly to the employee, and everything aligns with GDPR, so sensitive information isn’t exposed.
Which sectors do you work with?
Over four decades we’ve worked with transportation, food and beverage, the DWP, HMPS, education, aerospace, construction and the NHS, among others.
Where are you based?
Our office is at Suite 5, 405 Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan WN4 0AR. We work with organisations across the North West and beyond.
Are you accredited?
We’re working towards SEQOHS accreditation (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service), and our accreditations include BOHS, the British Occupational Hygiene Society.
How do I get access to the portal?
If you’re an existing client and need your login details, call us on 01744 304 171 and a member of the team will send you the access link.
